Cancer Foundation
The Galeai Peni Poumele Cancer foundation was established in 1992, following the untimely passing of Galea'i Peni Poumele to liver cancer. The foundation has been a labor of love and a collective effort amongst his children, relatives, and close friends to further the fight against cancer.
Our purpose and mission is to provide financial support for cancer patients to assist with the high costs of travel and treatments, assess the need for community-based programs or human resources to assist families in battling cancer locally, and facilitating community outreach and awareness events.

join us for some sweaty fun as we unite to fight brain cancer by bringing awareness to the public! May has a number of cancer initiatives however we chose the two more serious or more common ones to focus on. Apulu Veronika Mortenson and her family have been devoted to keeping American Samoa healthy at NO COST, and for this event they have so graciously teamed up with our foundation to continue their healthy living campaign.Click the link below to find out more about their regular classes open to the public. Sweat for a Cure!

Continuing on in the month of May, join us as we sweat for a cure for Bladder Cancer! Erica and Peteru are two of Am. Samoa's most lively and energetic certified Zumba Instructors and have agreed to partner with us to help spread awareness for this great cause! Zumba has a wide following on island and has been a strong movement amongst those seeking to live healthier and happier, click the link below to find out more about their regular class schedule and fees. National Cancer Survivors Day Event
Twice a year our foundation hosts mega events to bring awareness to the public about various cancers and treatments as well as to raise funds for future activities and financial assistance for patients. This year marks our first annual Benefit Banquet & Fashion Gala that will showcase local designers as well as our neighboring pacific island designers like Mena and Rimani! There will be a delicious 3 course meal served, beautiful items to bid on, great music and lots of giveaways all to celebrate our courageous cancer survivors!
